It's my pleasure to introduce you to Corina Alvarezdelugo better known as Corina.- (dot dash) She is a very talented Venezuelan artist who works with Collage, sculpture and painting. I would say she is very versatile on her work, in my personal preference I think her round ceramic sculptures are the most interesting, I love her way of representing nature with a cute touch.
Corina and I are currently showing at the Lyme Art Gallery at the opening almost at the end of the night I ran to take a picture of her next to one of her sculptures but for some reason most of my pictures taken that night disappeared of my camera, so the only recent one is this one taken at the CT Sculptors Annual Party

X-mas is gone!

I said it feeling a release :) I loved this Christmas my new family is so nice and fun to be around, I cried, laughed, danced and ate a lot! we hosted the Christmas Eve Dinner and cooked some latino dishes for them, overall we had a good time I just miss my parents and friends in Venezuela :( but they where on the phone for a little while sending us their love.
I'm sorry for not sending you Holiday Cards, this end of the year has been extremely busy but there is still a little surprise coming up for those who are in my mailing list, I can't tell you more.

I won't for few days, hoping to make it before New Year, I have something to share.

Take Care

My first sculpture

Last weekend I went to the Sculptors Society Annual Party, I enjoyed talking to fellow artist and sharing ideas, we were agreed of keeping and loving our first sculpture to either notice how good we are now or just giving us a nice memory.
I made this church (5"x6"x7") in terracotta when I was about 10-years-old it toke me a full week to finish it, I love churches I think they have a good energy and give you peace.

Quize compartir mi primera escultura, la realize cuando tenia mas o menos 10 anos y me tomo una semana terminarla. Es mi tesoro mas preciado.

Without choices

Reading an article on Alyson Stanfield blog I have to say I am glad to know I don't have choices, art is my path and what I love to do, no matter how difficult and how exhausting the "other tasks" are.

I graduated in Advertising because my parents pushed me for a degree, I didn't want to be a teacher so why to bother to get a bachelor on fine arts? so I thought advertising has a little of art on it and pretty sure the career could advise me how to promote myself or other artists. I organized shows, art talk, workshops all related to art while in college just to keep me going on the field, the only period of time I stopped making art was in a bad period of my life, there were five (5) years very unstable moving very often, alone in this country with no money and a daughter growing up, I look back and I can't believe how much I achieved, learning a new language, starting over, getting to know people, learning to trust again. While my moving I had to choose what to take and what not and there were few times where I had to decided between shoes and art tools and let me tell you I preferred to be bare foot.

Now I have a studio, my walls can't hold more pieces, the attic looks like a warehouse and best of all, my loving fiance next to me, supporting me and reminding me I can't be something else but an artist :)
